Trivia

  • The Sugarcoatl Line was created by Zio.
  • Coatl means both "Snake" and "Twin", hence the basic idea was a two-headed snake.
  • The coatl most people would have heard of is the Aztec God Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, so they were given the feathers-flying theme as well.
  • Sugarcoat means "to make something seem more pleasant than it is".
    • Despite its looks, it is a Poison type which is not suitable for young children to be around.
    • In fact, it is quite dangerous and challenging to train.
  • Sugarcoatl preys on sugary Fairy Pokémon like Slurpuff and Alcremie and that sugar becomes part of its colourful skin, which is a feature of some real-life predatory animals (not snakes, but some frogs and others).
  • If a user does manage to train a Sugarcoatl enough to get the two heads to stop fighting and cooperate, they grow WINGS!
  • The Caduceus symbol is two snakes wrapped around a staff with wings.
    • In this design, the wings are on the Pokémon, not the stick.
  • Each head controls one wing, a high degree of coordination is required to fly, that's why the PokéDex entry says that it only evolves if the heads can work together.
