Shiny hunting refers to the act of attempting to hatch a specific Shiny Pokémon by hatching the same type of Egg repeatedly. You cannot "chain" a certain Pokémon without upgrades, so hatching the same kind of Egg in a row does not increase the chances of finding a Shiny. Users without Hypermode and a PokéRadar who are on a hunt may hatch as many different kinds of Eggs as they like and have the same chance to have an Egg hatch Shiny every time.

There are special circumstances as to when everyone gets a shiny boost.

These factors apply for all users without exception. These boosts are the Pokémon of the Day and Sei's Bonus Counter. The PotD selects a random Pokémon that has a 10% improved chance of hatching Shiny for the day. Sei's Bonus Counter gets activated after a certain amount of Shiny Pokémon were hatched and boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny overall for one day.

Improving Chances
While Sei's counter is influenced by the activity of the users, the PotD is completely random.
To further increase your chances of hatching a Shiny, you'll need the PokéRadar and be in Hypermode to chain a certain Pokémon. The PokéRadar alone lets you "chain" up to one egg of a Pokémon, raising your chances quite a bit. With Hypermode, you can reach the maximum odds after consecutively hatching 40 Eggs of the same Pokémon species. This greatly boosts the odds a Pokémon will hatch Shiny. At this point, hatching more of the same Egg will not increase you chances, but can result in hatching a Shiny eventually. This also has a lot to do with luck, however, so don't give up after reaching max chance! It might take hundreds of Eggs before you hatch a shiny, or it might hatch very early in the chain.

Further boosts can be obtained with a Shiny Charm, which doubles your boost for a full 24 hours. Shiny Charms cost 150 Zophan Canisters in the Black Market and disappear after 24 hours, unless the user owns a Shiny Charm Box. However, the Shiny Charm will still need recharging to be used again. Shiny Charms can be bought and recharged with Gold Poké. It costs 100 GP to recharge a Shiny Charm, which takes five days. Multiple Shiny Charms can be recharged at once, with each Charm reducing the cost and time needed, capping out at 24 hours.
User related Boost
A user has the possibility to raise their own chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. These boosts stack with the site related boosts and with each other.

Übercharms also double the chance of finding Shiny Pokémon, as well as another category of Pokémon that has yet to be released. They can be bought in the Black Market for 200 Zophan Canisters. Alternatively, they can be bought and gifted to other users to other users on the Übercharm page.
Shiny Charms
Shiny Charms double the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. They can be purchased in the Black Market using Zophan Canisters. There are two different Charms that may be used for Shiny hunting, both can be active at the same time. The usual Shiny Charm can be purchased for 150, it boosts the chance for 24 hours after activation. If the user does not posses a Shiny Charm Box then the Shiny Charm will disappear after using it. When in possession of a Shiny Charm Box the Shiny Charm will turn into a Dead Shiny Charm after being used. Dead Shiny Charms can be recharged using Gold Poké. Recharging one Shiny Charm costs ?100 and takes 5 days, recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once lower the cost and duration down to 24 hours.

Donating to the Cookie Jar also gives the user a small boost, but not as much as Sei's Counter.
An Übercharm also doubles the chance of a Shiny Pokémon, but lasts for 28 days instead of the 24 hours of a Shiny Charm. In return it costs 200 and disappears completely after the effect wears off. It is also possible to buy an Übercharm for another user using the Übercharm page, this gives a Cookie as a reward. Buying 5 Übercharms for others gives extra Cookies.

All boosts stack with the Pokémon of the Day and Sei's Counter.

PokéRadar
A PokéRadar can be purchased for ₢750,000 in the Shop. It doesn't give much of a bonus by itself as it only allows a chain of 1 Egg, which boosts the chance of a Shiny Pokémon by 12%. Together with a Hypermode the PokéRadar allows the user to chain a species of Eggs that boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon to up to 3,996%.

Difficult Hunts
Chain
Unown cannot easily be chained. This is due to the Egg sprite and Name being the same, despite containing different formes of a Pokémon. The chain will break if a different forme of Unown is hatched. Different Flabébé colors do not count as separate formes and can be safely chained.
A chain compromises of a set of consecutive Eggs hatched of the same species. A chain is only possible with an active Hypermode and while owning a PokéRadar, otherwise chaining is impossible. Hatching the same Egg raises the chance of getting a Shiny Pokémon, the boost depends on how many eggs were hatched. The maximum boost is reached after hatching 40 Eggs of the same species, which boosts the chance of a Shiny Pokémon by 3,996%. A Shiny Pokémon that is hatched in a chain will have an entry in their Timeline that can look like this:
Shiny hatched 4/86 in chain +Sei +Charm +Über
The numbers means that this Shiny Pokémon was the 4th one to hatch in this chain, it hatched at Egg 86. Active boosts when hatching were the Sei Bonus Counter, a Shiny Charm and an Übercharm. The Timeline only lists boost that raise the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon, boost that made it easier to hatch due to more Interaction gain, like the PokéRus, are not listed.

Breaking a Chain
Breaking a chain means loosing all progress made in the chain, this is usually done when starting a new Shiny Hunt. The chain will either fail completely or start at 1 Egg again, depending whether the user still owns the PokéRadar or not. Following causes a chain to break:
*Hatching a different Egg than the species that is currently chaining, including Legendary Pokémon
*Hatching an Egg while not possessing a PokéRadar
*Hatching an Egg while Hypermode is not active

To avoid breaking the chain, an Egg Pass can be purchased in the Black Market. It allows the user to hatch one Egg without breaking the chain.

Special Eggs
Some Pokémon have different formes or appearances, which influences Shiny Hunting. If a Pokémon has more than one forme, then each forme has a different EggDex and therefore break the chain if different ones are hatched together. A different appearance does not give another EggDex and therefore count as one species even though they look different from one another. The only way to identify whether a Pokémon has a different forme or only a different appearance is by looking at the PokéDex, different formes are always listed there.

Pokémon with different formes:
*Unown
*Burmy
*Shellos
*Basculin
*Pumpkaboo

Pokémon with different appearances:
*Deerling, changes its appearance with the season
*Flabébé, hatches with a random colour
*Seasonal Turtwig, changes its appearance with the season

Most Pokémon with different formes can be distinguished from another through their Egg sprite. The only exception is Unown, there is currently no way to distinguish the different Unown formes from each other.

While Sei's counter is influenced by the activity of the users, the PotD is completely random.
