Pages we need

Hey, what templates are we in need of? I'll gladly make some. I imagine we need a "mark for deletion" template, but do we still need one for spoilers? --Uni talk 04:14, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

From looking around at other wikis, I say we need these templates:
  • Stub (Add more content to page)
  • Deletion (Get rid of this page)
  • Merge (Combine page with another)
  • Split (Break page into separate pages)
  • Cleanup (Rearrange article)
  • Disambiguation (Contains articles that share names)
  • Spoiler (Article that has secret information)
This is just marker templates. We'll still need infobox and categorization templates, but I'm not as knowledgeable about those. --Aipom14 (talk) 06:21, 15 February 2014 (GMT)
Can do. Uni talk 18:20, 17 February 2014 (GMT)

Well this certainly needs an overhaul. Anyone good with code? We can certainly have the main page edited to be more appealing to the eye. --Constantine (talk) 20:49, 28 June 2014 (BST)

I can code but I can't design. If someone makes it on paint or even paper with colour co-ordination I can do it. -Lugia101101 (talk)

Do we need a page on Pokémon themselves? I've seen it linked on different pages, and it might help to explain what Pokémon are, and categorize them based on evolution stage or rarity or some other factor. Plus it might be a help to anyone coming to the site without knowledge of the actual Pokémon franchise. --Peridot Prior (talk) 15:37, 30 June 2014 (BST)

That sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure if we need to list every Pokemon, though; that might count as a spoiler. Just include general information about them. The PF wiki had a page for Pokemon here, for reference. --Aipom14 (talk) 06:21, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

As has been mentioned before, spoilers are okay here provided they are tagged as such correctly. --Niet the Dark Absol (talk) 18:33, 30 June 2014 (BST)

Page has been created, though it still needs some work. Thanks for your input, guys. --Peridot Prior (talk) 18:39, 30 June 2014 (BST)

File-name format

It has come to my attention that the naming conventions used throughout this wiki are appalling (to my standards). So, I propose a format, for all file names to adhere to. I personally prefer a basic "Type_Name_Extra" format, an example being [[:File:Egg_Bulbasaur.png]] or [[:File:Pokémon_Arceus.png]], but things like File:Megaring.png and File:493.png (previously an image of Arceus' egg sprite) are named in such a way that I would be unable to simply type in the name, and would have to manually look for the file I wished to add to a page. Comments, concerns, suggestions? -Lugia101101 (talk) 13:35, 22 August 2014 (BST)

I thought I replied to this when you first posted it, sorry about that. I cannot tell you the amount of time I have spent searching through image categories, looking for files with appalling names, only to have to upload something myself. This new naming format sounds very efficient and simple to use; I think it's great! You have my full support. -KingVesper (talk) 06:48, 14 September 2014 (BST)

Policy Pages

There has been a lot of discussion about creating guides for the wiki, but I feel like a single guide just won't be able to cover everything we want editors to know. Most well-established Wikis have some sort of guideline for users to refer to when editing. Most often, these guidelines are called Policies. I propose a group of policies to be made for the PFQ Wiki. Each policy would cover a single topic, and outline everything an editor would need to know about that specific topic. I created an example: Policy:Categories, which thoroughly talks about categories and how they are to be used on this Wiki. (I also wanted to add a quick little guide about how to actually add a page to a category, but I think that can wait until we establish if we want to continue down this policy path.) So, what do you guys think? -KingVesper (talk) 02:04, 16 September 2014 (BST)

This does seem like a good idea. I can't really think of many policies, as most of the would simply be sections of one of the below pages. I would like to hear some input by other editor before we move forward though. -Lugia101101 (talk) 12:58, 16 September 2014 (BST)
Wow, this is all looking great! A few things though: Would we mention things such as the rules for screenshots of the site on the Images policy, or would that be better under another topic? Is there need for a general Editing Policy here, to note the importance of edit summaries, aversion to edit-wars, regarding deleting pages and similar things? I figure it might be useful to refer to when warning/blocking errant editors. -Zephyr Foxworth (talk) 07:06, 17 September 2014 (BST)
I realized that the table was way too basic to actually provide a good foundation for these policy pages, so I wrote up a listing of what I thought the policies should contain (User:KingVesper/Sandbox). The policy listing provides a much more extensive listing of what the policies need to have, but shouldn't be considered as final page layouts. Nothing is finalized, so feel free to open discussions on anything that seems off. -KingVesper (talk) 22:47, 29 September 2014 (BST)

Example Policies

Just to give an idea as to what kind of policies we could have, I've made a table (feel free to edit it as needed):

Name Covering Information on:
Policy:Page Style writing and format styles that would should included on each page.
Policy:Templates how we would like editors to create, use, and edit templates.
Policy:Images how the Wiki uses images, and how to upload and name them.

This table has been replaced by: User:KingVesper/Sandbox.

Main Page change

Would something similar to what I have on my page (links missing) be interesting for the Main Page ? --Kpwbo (talk) 22:54, 9 December 2014 (GMT)
