Would a redirect or merge be better here?

I have noticed that there are links to the ongoing and concluded event pages in the titles. Wouldn't it therefore be better to either merge or redirect those pages into this article? --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 14:09, 12 July 2014 (BST)

I think adding the current events to this page is a good idea, but Past Events should have its own page. If it will be like on the old PF1 where there was more than one Event every month, then putting every event on one page might be too much. But I also think that the past events should be ALL on the other page and not like right now where there is one page for the Events as in "What was happening" and one separate page for "What you could get". The whole Event thing need definitely some overthinking, it looks just thrown together right now. I don't even know if the "Current events" on the Navigation was really intended for this use. (It doesn't look like this because the page's title is "PFQWiki:Current Events".) So yeah my idea is:
Events: Explanation what events are, current Events and/or Events that are announced (should this also include "Events" like the July Sale?), explanation on past events, when programmed maybe also how to get past events?
Past Events: Not really sure about this one. Maybe like Updates a table for every month? Columns could be Time span (when did the event start and when did it end?), description and price (as in what did you get)? Any additional thought is greatly appreciated. --Uzumi (talk) 22:29, 12 July 2014 (BST)
Eh, Current Events sounds like it should be an at-a-glance page for what's happening on the site. So events or promotional sales would belong there for easy access. The Events page should explain what events are, as you say, with the more detailed events getting a write-up on that page. Past Events is just a listing of all the events in chronological order. I think some of the columns should be changed, but I'm content with how that page looks generally. Events in that list would link to their description in the Events page.
So, no. I do not think merging those other pages here would be better. If instead, all the other references linked to this page, we could direct that traffic to the other two pages to prevent confusion as to which link to use when editing. -Zephyr Foxworth (talk) 23:02, 12 July 2014 (BST)
So does that mean that each individual event would get linked to either the Current Events page or the past events page? --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 02:38, 13 July 2014 (BST)
Yes, that'd be what would happen, if I'm interpreting your question correctly. Although, that would be problematic I just realized.
I've given this a bit more thought. (After rereading Uzumi's post with a more lucid mindset.) How does the following sound? :
All the events should be listed under Past Events. Events should just be the in-general article about how events work and such, linking to the list of current and past events. Current Events would list any events going on, including promotional sales or similar. Past Events would keep its current format I think. If an event listed under Past Events needs a more detailed explanation, a subpage could be made for that event under Pase Events. -Zephyr Foxworth (talk) 03:42, 13 July 2014 (BST)
I understand this right? There should be two pages: Events and List of Events? (I don't think Past Events is a fitting name for this if current events and maybe announced events are on this, too.) If yes then I agree, this sounds like a good plan. But keeping that current format wouldn't work if we include every kind of Event and promotional sales. Right now it's already messy if there is an event with only an item and then one with Pokémon because there is always something left blank. When adding events that only have a description like promotional sales (while the table doesn't even have a place for descriptions) it would look even weirder. I also think that we shouldn't add the latest event at the bottom of the page, that already bothers me on the event page of the PF1 wiki. I think current events and events that people may have missed because they were inactive for a while are more important than the events from "the past" and should be at the top of the page.
But I guess discussing on how it should look like should be done on the talk page of Past events? If we agree on making events into two pages with one being "Events": a general explanation on how events work, what kind of events exist and later then how to get past events. And a second page "List of Events:" with past events, current events (and announced events?). --Uzumi (talk) 12:19, 13 July 2014 (BST)
Just a thought, but considering that a generic description of what an event is could probably be described in a paragraph or so, might it be best to just have the event list page on its own, with a generic description in the lead paragraph? --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 13:20, 13 July 2014 (BST)
@Uzumi: Yeah, those two pages + Current Events would be the things we want. I don't think that promotional sales belong on the list of events, since they don't have any specific rewards or even fit the definition of a typical 'Event'. They're kinda their own entity. I agree that discussion of the table layout should move to that page now. Although, what did you think about the more unique/complicated events having a page like "List_of_Events/EventName"?
@Crazy/Tornadoes: Having a brief description is nice on its own, but there would still be details needed to explain, whether it's nuance or some other details. So both its own page and a brief description on the link may be best. -Zephyr Foxworth (talk) 17:33, 13 July 2014 (BST)
