Mega Evolution is a special kind of Evolution. Once you reach Senior Rank, you'll receive your Key Stone and a Mega Stone Voucher. Some Pokémon have a Mega Stone named after them. Mega Evolving outside of battle is different and difficult to do -- Mega Evolving can be done from a Pokémon's summary page with a little bit of Doug's help.
