Just noting that I tried two Growlithes with one holding a Fire Fang and that didn't work.

How to Apo Growlithe

I /sincerely/ hope I'm doing this right, I haven't heard back about the other page so I really do apologize- that aside. Mihael Keehl (though as we no not the original person to discover it) has been playing around with who has to hold stones and etc. Right now they're using Arcanine and Arcanine to breed them with a meteorite successfully. In their experience it was the female holding the stone as well. They just confirmed it /had/ to be the female just like Shroomish. So if you're breeding them, your meteorite goes on your female Arcanine - I can only assume growlithe would work as well as growlithe has not been tested by us.

In closing

Female (Holding Meteorite) Arcanine + Male Arcanine = Does Work
Female (Holding Meteorite) Arcanine + Ditto Acting as Male = Does Work
- Have not tested with Growlithe, assume that it does work as I've seen Growlithe parents of these Apocalyptic Pokemon.

Apocalyptic Arcanine + Apocalyptic Arcanine = Does Work
Apocalyptic Arcanine + Ditto = Does Work
- Assuming Apo Growlithe + Apo Growlithe = Does work

Assumption Based On Breloom (Holding Meteorite) + Cottonee

This assumption is based on one that I just had happen out of curiosity. As long as it is a Female of the Apocalyptic Line you're looking for, holding on to a meteorite, you're going to get an egg of it eventually. Clearly doing the same species is a lot better, but it looks like it works:
