Some Eggs contain Gems when hatching them. Perhaps you noticed, that you seem to get them more frequently than you did the beginning. This is because the chance to get a gem is more common with each hatched Egg. Your chances of gaining a gem with each egg is guaranteed after your 1,000th egg for that type, so this is what you're aiming for!

Gems are a necessary resource to construct Gemwish Badges in the Wishforge, so having lots of them makes hatching Eggs even faster. You could also focus on one type to gain those gems at a quicker pace.
