Shiny Hunting refers to the act of attempting to hatch a specific Shiny Pokémon by hatching the same type of Egg repeatedly. There is an extremely small chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon without the use of any Boosts or the PokéRadar.

About the Shiny Hunting Page
The Shiny Hunting page consists of five tabs:
*Information: Shows Active modifiers and their Current chain.
*PokéRadar: Allows for the purchase of a PokeRadar and PR Memory Stick.
*Shiny Charm: Explains about Shiny Charms. Allows for the purchase of Shiny Charm. This page is also where a user would go to activate their Shiny Charm.
*Egg Pass: Explains about Egg Passes and allows users to purchase them.

Information
The Information tab explains what Shiny and Melanistic Pokémon are. Below this is the Active Modifiers section. The progress bar is a user's Current chain. In the example picture, the user is currently hunting Hisuian Zorua which is indicated by the mini-sprite. Their current chain is 43/39, the 43 is how many eggs have been hatched in their chain. While the 39, is representing the shiny bonus level which is approximately 1,958.3%.

Below the progress bar explains that having Hypermode can give a user a higher boost. It also explains that reaching a chain of 100 will allow a user to start receiving the Long Chain Bonus. After reaching a chain of 100 it will explain that the user is receiving the Long Chain Bonus. Under that, it states what that day's Pokémon of the Day is.

These factors apply for all users without exception. These boosts are the Pokémon of the Day and Sei's Bonus Counter. The PotD selects a random Pokémon that has a 10% improved chance of hatching Shiny for the day. Sei's Bonus Counter gets activated after a certain amount of Shiny Pokémon are hatched (7,777) and boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny overall for one day.

The PotD selects a random Pokémon that has a 10% improved chance of hatching Shiny for the day. Sei's Bonus Counter gets activated after a certain amount of Shiny Pokémon are hatched site-wide (3,777) and boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny overall for one day.

User related Boosts
A user can raise their chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. These boosts stack with the site-related boosts and with each other.

While Sei's counter is influenced by the activity of the users, the PotD is completely random.
After the rate adjustment on the 28th of August 2019, the chances of hatching a Shiny and Albino Pokémon were switched, resulting in Shiny Pokémon becoming less common when using boosts than Albino Pokémon.

User related Boost
PokéRadar
A user has the possibility to raise their own chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. These boosts stack with the site related boosts and with each other.
A PokéRadar is an Account Upgrade and can be purchased for 750,000 on the Shiny Hunt page. It allows users to chain eggs of the same species and significantly boosts a user's Shiny hatching chances. When a user chains at least 39 eggs, the maximum boost is 1,958%. Together with Hypermode, the maximum boost of 3,996% will be granted after the user has chained at least 40 eggs.

Shiny Charms
Shiny Charms
Shiny Charms double the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. There are two different Charms that may be used for Shiny hunting, both can be active at the same time. The usual Shiny Charm can be purchased for 150, it boosts the chance for 24 hours after activation. If the user does not possess a Shiny Charm Box then the Shiny Charm will disappear after using it. When in possession of a Shiny Charm Box the Shiny Charm will turn into a Dead Shiny Charm after being used. Dead Shiny Charms can be recharged using Gold Poké. Recharging one Shiny Charm costs 100 and takes 5 days, while recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once lowers cost (per charm- up to 80%) and duration down to 24 hours.
Shiny Charms are not required for Shiny Hunting.Shiny Charms boost the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon for 24 hours after activation by 2.5 times. A Shiny Charm can be purchased for 200. The Shiny Charm will turn into a Dead Shiny Charm after being used. Dead Shiny Charms can be recharged using Gold Poké. Recharging one Shiny Charm costs 100 and takes 5 days, while recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once lowers the cost (per charm- up to 80%) and the duration down to 24 hours.
Eltafez's Bonus Counter affects the recharge cost.
Users have the option to be reminded to use a new Shiny Charm each day. Unchecking the option will ensure that the user is not notified.

Below is a chart for recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once.

reaching 68%, the discount is +1% every 2 Charms. (I.E. 16-17 Charms are 68%, 19-20 are 69%, etc.)
Übercharms
An Übercharm also doubles the chance of a Shiny Pokémon, but lasts for 28 days instead of 24 hours. In return, it costs 200 and disappears completely after the effect wears off.

PokéRadar
It is possible to recharge more than 17 Shiny Charms at once, with every further Shiny Charm costing an additional 20 and does not lower the duration time any further. After
A PokéRadar can be purchased for ₢750,000 on the Shiny Hunt page. This allows you to chain up to 38 eggs, granting a boost of up to 595% on its own. Together with Hypermode, the PokéRadar allows the user to chain a species of Eggs up to 40. This boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon up to 3,996%.
reaching 68%, the discount is subjective to an exponential curve, and increases with additional charms.

Gold Amulet
The Gold Amulet is a permanent item given to users as a reward for reaching Ace Rank. The Gold Amulet gives a 25% (multiplicative +1/4) boost to Shiny chances.
A +1/4 modifier, or +25%, is a multiplication of the user's odds by 1.25. This means that by taking 1/8192 as a base, you'd get 1.25/8192, which is 1/6553.6.

Chain
Chain
A chain compromises of a set of consecutive Eggs hatched of the same species. A chain is only possible with an active Hypermode or after having bought a PokéRadar. Hatching the same Egg raises the chance of getting a Shiny Pokémon, the boost depends on how many eggs were hatched. The maximum boost is reached after hatching 40 Eggs of the same species, which boosts the chance of a Shiny Pokémon by 3,996%. A Shiny Pokémon that is hatched in a chain will have an entry in their Timeline that can look like this:

The numbers means that this Shiny Pokémon was the 4th one to hatch in this chain, it hatched at Egg 86. Active boosts when hatching were the Sei Bonus Counter, a Shiny Charm and an Übercharm. The Timeline only lists boosts that raise the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon; boosts that made it easier to hatch due to more Interaction gain, like the PokéRus, are not listed.

Breaking a chain means losing all progress made in the chain. This is usually done when starting a new Shiny Hunt. The chain will either fail completely or start at 1 Egg again, depending on the method the user uses to break the chain. The following causes a chain to break:
*Hatching a different Egg than the species that is currently being chained when the Type Race is not ongoing, or if the Pokémon's type is different from your assigned type during the Type Race.
*Hatching a different Egg than the species that are currently being chained when the Type Race is not ongoing, or if the Pokémon's type is different from your assigned type during the Type Race.

A user may find out if the active tournament has this exemption by going to the tournament event page.
*Hatching an Egg while not possessing a PokéRadar.
*Clicking the Force-reset Radar chain button.

When a user tries to hatch an egg that is not a part of their chain a warning pop-up will appear. This pop-up will let the user know that the egg is different from their chain along with giving them options to either break the chain or use an Egg Pass. If the user does not own any Egg Passes, they will be redirected to the page where they can buy them.

Egg Pass
An Egg Pass can be purchased to avoid breaking the chain. It allows the user to hatch a single Egg without breaking the chain. The system will show a pop-up when a user is about to hatch an Egg that will break their chain. This pop-up is a warning and allows the user to do one of three things:
*Hatch the Egg anyway/Hatch the Egg: This will hatch the Egg and break the chain without using an Egg Pass.
*Use Egg Pass: If the user has an Egg Pass, they can use it and not break their chain.
*Get Egg Passes: If the user does not have any Egg Passes, they can click this button to be taken to the page where they can buy an Egg Pass. Users have to click the Egg Pass tab on the page.
Egg Passes cost 80 each or they can be bought in bulk at 5 Egg Passes for 240, 10 Egg Passes for 400, or 100 Egg Passes for 2,000. They are single-use items.

PR Memory Stick
The PR Memory Stick allows users to save their current chain. After using a PR Memory Stick, it will reset the user's PokéRadar allowing them to hatch other eggs without having to worry about breaking their chain. The saved chain can then be resumed at any time. Restoring a chain will overwrite the user's current chain. If the restored chain is the same as the current chain, the restored chain will add to the current chain (instead of overwriting). Users may also save two of the same chains and restore them either separately or they can combine them into a single chain.

To avoid breaking the chain, an Egg Pass can be purchased. It allows the user to hatch one Egg without breaking the chain.
Each PR Memory Stick can only be used once and they can be purchased for 200.

Alternatively a PR Memory Stick can be purchased for 300. This allows the player to save their current chain and resets their Pokéradar when used. The saved chain can then be resumed at any time (overwriting any existing chain at that time). Each PR Memory Stick can only be used once.
Danger zone!
There is a hide box named Danger zone! located under the PokéRadar tab. In this area is a button named Force-reset Radar chain. This button allows users to manually break their chain without needing to hatch a different egg. Once the button has been clicked a Wipe chain warning will pop up to further help prevent accidental use.

Shelter Boost
Shelter Boost
When chaining a Pokémon, a hidden Shelter boost applies. Starting from chain 1, each time the user reloads the shelter, there is a small chance that one of the eggs on their screen will be replaced with an egg that they're chaining if it exists in the Shelter. This chance caps at 25% at chain 100.

Shiny Hunting refers to the act of attempting to hatch a specific Shiny Pokémon by hatching the same type of Egg repeatedly. There is an extremely small chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon without the use of any Boosts or the PokéRadar.

For more detailed information, please visit Guide:Shiny Hunting.

About the Shiny Hunting Page

An example of the Shiny Hunting Page.

The Shiny Hunting page consists of five tabs:

 • Information: Shows Active modifiers and their Current chain.
 • PokéRadar: Allows for the purchase of a PokeRadar and PR Memory Stick.
 • Shiny Charm: Explains about Shiny Charms. Allows for the purchase of Shiny Charm. This page is also where a user would go to activate their Shiny Charm.
 • Egg Pass: Explains about Egg Passes and allows users to purchase them.

Site related Boost

These factors apply to all users without exception. These boosts are the Pokémon of the Day and Sei's Bonus Counter. The PotD selects a random Pokémon that has a 10% improved chance of hatching Shiny for the day. Sei's Bonus Counter gets activated after a certain amount of Shiny Pokémon are hatched site-wide (3,777) and boosts the chance of hatching a Shiny overall for one day.

Note: While Sei's counter is influenced by the activity of the users, the PotD is completely random.

User related Boosts

A user can raise their chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. These boosts stack with the site-related boosts and with each other.

After the rate adjustment on the 28th of August 2019, the chances of hatching a Shiny and Albino Pokémon were switched, resulting in Shiny Pokémon becoming less common when using boosts than Albino Pokémon.

PokéRadar

A PokéRadar is an Account Upgrade and can be purchased for 750,000 on the Shiny Hunt page. It allows users to chain eggs of the same species and significantly boosts a user's Shiny hatching chances. When a user chains at least 39 eggs, the maximum boost is 1,958%. Together with Hypermode, the maximum boost of 3,996% will be granted after the user has chained at least 40 eggs.

Note: A PokéRadar is not required to hatch a Shiny Pokémon. Users can hatch a random Shiny Pokémon even without a PokéRadar.

Shiny Charms

Note: Shiny Charms are not required for Shiny Hunting.

Shiny Charms boost the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon for 24 hours after activation by 2.5 times. A Shiny Charm can be purchased for 200. The Shiny Charm will turn into a Dead Shiny Charm after being used. Dead Shiny Charms can be recharged using Gold Poké. Recharging one Shiny Charm costs 100 and takes 5 days, while recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once lowers the cost (per charm- up to 80%) and the duration down to 24 hours.[1]

Note: Eltafez's Bonus Counter affects the recharge cost.

Users have the option to be reminded to use a new Shiny Charm each day. Unchecking the option will ensure that the user is not notified.

Below is a chart for recharging multiple Shiny Charms at once.

It is possible to recharge more than 17 Shiny Charms at once, with every further Shiny Charm costing an additional 20 and does not lower the duration time any further. After reaching 68%, the discount is subjective to an exponential curve, and increases with additional charms.

Chain

A chain comprises of a set of at least 3 consecutive Eggs hatched of the same species. A chain is only possible with an active Hypermode or after having bought a PokéRadar. Hatching the same Egg raises the chance of getting a Shiny Pokémon, the boost depends on how many eggs were hatched and if Hypermode is in use. A Shiny Pokémon that is hatched in a chain will have an entry in their Timeline that can look like this:

Shiny hatched 4/86 in chain +Sei +Amulet +Charm

This means that this Shiny Pokémon was the 4th one to hatch in this chain and hatched at Egg 86. Active boosts when hatching were the Sei Bonus Counter, the Gold Amulet, and a Shiny Charm. The Timeline only lists boosts that raise the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon; boosts that made it easier to hatch due to more Interaction gain, like the PokéRus, are not listed.

Chain Boost

The maximum boost is 3,996% after hatching 40 eggs with the use of Hypermode and 1,958% after hatching 39 eggs without the use of Hypermode.

Breaking a Chain

Breaking a chain means losing all progress made in the chain. This is usually done when starting a new Shiny Hunt. The chain will either fail completely or start at 1 Egg again, depending on the method the user uses to break the chain. The following causes a chain to break:

 • Hatching a different Egg than the species that are currently being chained when the Type Race is not ongoing, or if the Pokémon's type is different from your assigned type during the Type Race.
 • Hatching a different Egg than the species that are currently being chained during an active Weekly Tournament that does not exempt eggs that match the tournament qualifications from breaking chains. A user may find out if the active tournament has this exemption by going to the tournament event page.
Note: Eggs won as a Top Prize in the Weekly Tournament or as a prize from Mass-Click Weekend will not break Shiny Hunt chains.
 • Hatching an Egg while not possessing a PokéRadar.
 • Clicking the Force-reset Radar chain button.
Note: This button is located in the PokéRadar tab in the Danger zone! and will cause the chain to fail completely.

 • Hatch the Egg anyway/Hatch the Egg: This will hatch the Egg and break the chain without using an Egg Pass.
 • Use Egg Pass: If the user has an Egg Pass, they can use it and not break their chain.
 • Get Egg Passes: If the user does not have any Egg Passes, they can click this button to be taken to the page where they can buy an Egg Pass.
Note: Users have to click the Egg Pass tab on the page.

Each PR Memory Stick can only be used once and they can be purchased for 200.
Note: One-time use only means users need to buy a new PR Stick to save any hunt, even if it was a hunt that was previously saved and reactivated.

When chaining a Pokémon, a hidden Shelter boost applies. Starting from chain 1, each time the user reloads the shelter, there is a small chance that one of the eggs on their screen will be replaced with an egg that they're chaining if it exists in the Shelter. This chance caps at 50% at chain 100.

Special Eggs

Some Pokémon have different formes or appearances, which influences Shiny Hunting. If a Pokémon has more than one forme, then each forme has a different EggDex and therefore breaks the chain if different ones are hatched together. A different appearance does not give another EggDex and therefore counts as one species even though they look different from one another. The only way to identify whether a Pokémon has a different forme or only a different appearance is by looking at the PokéDex; different formes are always listed there.

Pokémon with different formes:

 • Unown: The only Pokémon with different formes that have the same Egg sprite. There is currently no visual way to distinguish between the different Unown forme eggs.
 • Regional Variants: Alolan, Galarian, and Hisuian formes of a Pokémon have different Egg sprites. Therefore, each forme counts as its own species.

Pokémon with different appearances:

 • Shellos: Hatches Orient if hatched on the right side (slots 2, 4, and 6) of the user's Party; hatches Occident if hatched on the left side (slots 1, 3, and 5) of the user's Party.
 • All Pokémon with gender differences: This includes Frillish, Nidoran, and Petripeep, which evolve into different Pokémon depending on their gender.
 • Deerling: Changes its appearance with the season.
 • Flabébé: Hatches with a random colour.
 • Spinda: Hatches with a random pattern of spots.
 • Oricorio: Hatches in a random Style. Only Pointe Style requires the Green Nectar to obtain its Dex entry; all canon Styles can be changed through different-coloured Nectars.
 • Pumpkaboo: Hatches in different sizes depending on how many hours the egg took to hatch (<1 hour = small, 1-2 hours = average, 2-3 hours = large, and >3 hours = supersize).
Note: The counter starts when the egg is created, not when it is adopted.
 • Seasonal Turtwig: Changes its appearance with the season.
 • Vivillon and Maravol: Each user is assigned a pattern which is determined by hatching a Scatterbug or Maravol Egg, respectively. These patterns are account-locked, but unlike account-locked Pokémon, these Pokémon can be traded among users.
 • Red and Blue Striped Basculin: Stripes hatch based on which hatched Basculin forme is in the party, if any.
 • Flurrawr: Flurrawr's forme depends on if it hatches in the first two, or the last two slots of a user's party. If it hatches in one of the first two, it will hatch into a Boreal Forme Flurrawr. If it hatches in one of the last two slots, it will hatch into an Austral Forme Flurrawr.
