The Scour Areas allows a user to send their Pokémon on Scour Missions. It can be accessed from the Nearby Places tab on the Farm page or through a link on the NavBar.

Scour page with three available slots. Both Pokémon are in their preferred area and a new mission can be started.

Starting a Mission

The Scour Areas can be accessed once the basic tutorial is completed and the fashion suitcase has been bought on the scouring page.

On the main page, there are two buttons. Below them the current scour missions are seen and Pokémon can be retrieved. "Start a new Mission" is possible when a scour slot is open. Without any upgrades a user has one scour slot. "Upgrades" takes the user to the upgrade information.

When clicking on "Start a new Mission," a user is taken to their Fields. The first step for them is to select a Pokémon. Any Pokémon that isn't still an Egg, at the DayCare, training at the Dojo, or already on a mission can do a scour mission. No Pokémon has more potential at missions than another, but each individual will have a randomly assigned preferred and disliked location. Pokémon will typically perform better if they are sent to the location they prefer. In order to find a Pokémon's preferred or disliked location, users have to send them to each location until they find it. Once the preferred and disliked scour location is found, the Pokémon won't forget it and it'll show up on the pop-up menu that is seen when the user hovers over a Pokémon to select them for a mission.

The next step is to choose a location. There are six locations: Ocean, Volcano, Desert, Forest, Tundra, and City. Each Mission will last one hour. Once a Pokémon's preferred location is found it will be automatically selected; however, users have the option to still change the location before sending them.

After everything is sorted out, pressing "Send" will start the Mission. A scouring Pokémon will still appear in the Party/Fields and can be interacted with, but cannot be traded, nor be given items or have items taken from them.

During and After a Mission

On the Scour Areas' main page, all currently active missions are viewable.

While a mission is in progress, the page will display the Pokémon on the mission, the location of the mission, the Pokémon's type(s), the Pokémon's current energy level, and the amount of time left before the Pokémon returns. In addition, the Pokémon's opinion of the area may be shown under the time remaining. A message is displayed if the Pokémon prefers or dislikes the location, but not if the Pokémon has no opinion.

After a mission is done, a button to retrieve the Pokémon appears. When clicked, any items the Pokémon found on its mission (varying from regular items, to Accessories, Credits, and Boxes), are shown inside the box with the Pokémon. Afterwards, three options may be selected:

  • End Mission: The Pokémon stops scouring and rests.
  • New Mission: Allows one to change the location before setting off again.
  • Same Mission: Repeats the finished mission.

Too many consecutive missions can result in a Pokémon becoming tired, as noted by the energy meter at the bottom of the status box. Tiredness may affect how the Pokémon performs when scouring. A Pokémon's energy is gradually replenished whenever they are not actively scouring, so a tired Pokémon should be left in a Field for a time to recover.

Scour Finds

Pokémon may bring back Berries, Fossils, Evolution Items, Evolution Stones, Special Evolution Items, Boxes, Accessories, and Credits. Interestingly, the only difference between locations is which accessories the Pokémon may pick up from them. Additionally, certain items may only be found with certain Pokémon, detailed in the section below.

The probability of finding items is outlined below in this table:

Without Scour Boost Prime
Level Nothing Berry Accessory Credits Evolution Item Box/Special
0 50% 25% 12% 6% 4% 3%
1 40% 28% 9% 9% 4% 10%
2 30% 30% 8% 12% 6% 14%
3 20% 30% 10% 15% 10% 15%
4 10% 30% 15% 18% 10% 17%
With Scour Boost Prime
Level Nothing Berry Accessory Credits Evolution Item Box/Special
0 37.5% 31.25% 15.25% 7.5% 4.5% 4%
1 30% 31% 13.75% 9% 5.25% 11%
2 22.5% 30% 13.5% 11% 7.5% 15.5%
3 15% 27.5% 15% 13.75% 11.25% 17.5%
4 7.5% 25% 18.75% 17.25% 12% 19.5%
  • Level. Each Pokémon starts at Scour Level 1 and then is influenced by the following:
    • If the location is 'preferred' (+1), 'neutral' (+0), or 'disliked' (-1)
    • The amount of Scour Boosts the user has (+1 per boost, max 2).
  • Nothing means the Pokémon returned with no loot.
  • Berry is any type of Berry, ranging from 1-4 of a specific type (e.g. 3 Watmel Berries).
  • Accessory is what users use to dress up their Pokémon. See here for a full list.
  • Credits are the standard site currency.
  • Evolution Items are self-explanatory.
  • Boxes/Special are either Boxes, Fossils, or any of the items listed below in the Forme Pokémon and Scouring section. If the reward is pulled from this category, it will make another check to see if the user obtains a Box (90-99% chance) or a special item (1-10% chance).
    • There may be an additional random component depending on the special item. E.G. For Genesect Drives, after all of the conditions above are met, an additional check must be passed: Genesect (10% chance), Porygon (50% chance), Porygon2 (100% chance), and Porygon-Z (70% chance).

Please note: Totem Stickers and Zygarde Cells are checked first; if the roll is unsuccessful, then this table is used. More information can be found on these in the following section.

Upgrades

Four types of Account Upgrades for Scour Missions can be obtained.

  • Scour Boosts are a permanent item that increases the chance of finding rarer items on missions. Two total can be used. Each Scour Boost costs 200 Gold Poké.
  • Scour Slots are a permanent item that allows another scour mission to be performed alongside the starting one. Again, two can be used, granting a total of three slots. Each Scour Slot costs 200.
  • Scour Slot Prime is a permanent item that allows another scour mission to be performed alongside the starting one. They grant a total of four slots when combined with regular Scour Slots. It is obtained by reaching Rookie Rank.

Important to Remember

It's important to remember:

  • The first scour of the day will override all finds and be replaced with the Daily Task reward.
  • Boosts and energy affect what the Pokémon finds.
    • Suríya's Bonus is the percentage chance of obtaining a higher-tier reward. E.G. If the initial roll is nothing, then it would be upgraded to a Berry.
    • Being at, or entering red energy at the end of a Scour results in a shift to the left on the rewards table. E.G. If the initial roll is a Berry, then the reward would be downgraded to nothing.
  • Totem Stickers and Zygarde Cells will override normal finds.
    • Boosts and energy do not affect finding Totem Stickers and Zygarde Cells.
  • As more Totem Stickers and Zygarde Cells are found, it becomes harder to find the remaining ones.
    • E.G. When no cells have been found in an area, it's a 100% chance to find one. With nine cells found, the chance is 10% to find the last cell.
  • Patience is key to finding rare items, such as Drives and Reveal Glass. It may take a long time with many times of sending out the Pokémon to find one.
