The DayCare is a place run by Professor Laurel where up to two Pokémon can breed while gaining EXP. The DayCare can be accessed through the NavBar.

About the DayCare

The DayCare page consist of four tabs:

  • About the DayCare: Explains the use and the restrictions of the DayCare.
  • Your Pokémon: Shows the Pokémon that are currently in the DayCare of the user and allows to add other Pokémon.
  • Eggs: Shows the Eggs the Pokémon produced and allows to take one.
  • Updates: Allows to purchase Account Upgrades that are related to the DayCare.

Leaving a Pokémon in the DayCare

The second tab of the DayCare shows the To leave a Pokémon it is necessary to have a spot open, every user can leave up to two Pokémon in their DayCare. If one Pokémon was placed in the DayCare, then the DayCare only shows compatible Pokémon for Breeding when the user tries to leave a second Pokémon. If the user wants to add another Pokémon with no intention of Breeding, the closed eye symbol next to the page title has to be toggled to have all Pokémon displayed.

Note: Pokémon in the DayCare will still show up in your Party/Fields and can be interacted with.

Breeding

Breeding is considered the main usage of the DayCare, when breeding two Pokémon can producing an Egg of their species, this chance is the compatibility between those two Pokémon. Depending on the compatibility Eggs have a chance to be bred every 64 Interactions the user does.

Breeding mechanics in PokéFarm Q differ slightly from the main Pokémon games. Offspring may belong to the same evolutionary chain as either parent, rather than just the mother. Incense breeding is also nonexistent; a Snorlax can produce Munchlax eggs without holding a Full Incense. Pokémon from the Undiscovered Egg Group cannot breed with any Pokémon, this Egg Group includes Legendary Pokémon and Baby Pokémon, Manaphy and Phione are the only exceptions from this. Ditto can breed with every breedable Pokémon, including genderless Pokémon, but breeding two Ditto together does not produce any Eggs.

Compatibility

Example of a compatible breeding pair.

The compatibility of two Pokémon is based on factors such as height difference, weight difference, or type difference.[1] Considering this, Pokémon of the same species are more compatible with each other than two of different species. The sentence beneath the two Pokémon gives a hint on how compatible they are, to get the exact percentage the Upgrade Matchup Checker has to be purchased.

Event Pokémon

Event Pokémon are special Pokémon that are initially released through Events. When breeding Event Pokémon only 1 in 8 Eggs is probably going to be an Event Egg, any other Eggs are normal Pokémon.

Special Breeding Pairs

Some Breeding Pairs have special characteristics when breeding.

<spoiler show="Show Special Breeding Pairs" hide="Hide Special Breeding Pairs">When breeding Miltank or Tauros with each other or any other Pokémon both Miltank and Tauros Eggs can be produced. Nidoran is considered one Pokémon, ignoring its gender differences. So breeding its evolution line with any other Pokémon results in a Nidoran Egg which can hatch either male or female. Even though Zangoose and Seviper should be able to breed, their freud between each other makes it impossible for them to do so.</spoiler>

Breeding Unown

Breeding Unown is possible even without Ditto as they are in the Unown Egg Group.

<spoiler show="Show how to breed specific letters" hide="Hide how to breed specific letters">When breeding with Unowns it is necessary to know that the same letters will always produce the same letters. When breeding two A Unown with each other they will always produce A Unown. When breeding an A Unown and a B Unown they will always produce a C Unown.

To know which Unown will be produced while breeding their letters need to be seen as numbers, where each number is equal to their place in the alphabet. Unown A equals to 1, Unown B equals to 2 etc.

The first step is to find out which Unown appears later in the alphabet and therefore which Unown has the higher number of the breeding pair. This number is the first value, the number of the other Unown is the second value. Now to get the resulting Unown the second value has to be subtracted from the first value. The resulting value is added to the first value which gives the number of the resulting Unown. Mathematically speaking with an example of breeding Unown A and Unown B.

x = Number of the Unown which appears later in the alphabet, in this example: Unown B, number: 2
y = Number of the Unown which appears earlier in the alphabet, in this example: Unown A, number: 1
z = Number of the Unown which results from breeding both Unown, in this example: From breeding Unown A and Unown B

(x - y) + x = z

Where (x - y) is calculated first. In this example: (2 - 1) + 2 = 3 Looking up number 3 from the table tells that Unown C results from breeding Unown A and Unown B. Another possible formula is:

2 * x - y = z

Where 2 * x is calculated first.

Note: If the resulting value is over 28 then 28 has to be subtracted from the result to get the real number.

Eggs

Eggs that were bred can be viewed in this tab. A normal user may take one Egg a day, in Hypermode the user obtains one Shelter Pass daily which allows taking an additional Egg. The remaining Eggs are sent to the Shelter when the user visits DayCare for the first time on a new day. An exception from this are Event Eggs, as they only have a 1% chance of going into the Shelter.

Upgrades

DayCare Upgrades can be purchased with Gold Poké (GP).

  • SpyGlass: A tool that will reveal the specific image of an Egg. It comes in handy when you're breeding with two different Pokémon species. Can be bought for 20 GP.
  • Red Gigaremo: A tool that can force your Pokémon to be more compatible with each other while lowering their happiness. It will not work on couples that aren't compatible in the first place. The Red Gigaremo can be used any time for a one-time purchase of 2,000 GP.
    Warning: If either one of the Pokémon in the couple runs away, the other will also run away.
  • Matchup Checker: A small tool that shows you exactly how compatible your Pokémon are for a one-time buy of 100 GP. Once bought, a percentage will show up next to the couple's compatibility sentence.
  • DayCare Pass: This allows you to take an extra Egg in addition to the daily one. Each Pass costs 20 GP and can only be used once. You also have the option to by Passes in bulk, at a discount, in sets of 10 (for the price of 9) or 60 (for the price of 50).
  • DayCare EXP Booster: Increases the amount of EXP gained by Pokémon while in the DayCare by 25%. You can stack up to five Boosters to get the maximum advantage out of them. Can be bought for 300 GP.
